Essay 1-01a: Letters to Host Families

Dear host family,
Hello! How are you? My name is Tomoka. My family and friends call me Tomoka. So please call me Tomoka. I appreciate your kindness very much. I'm happy that I will be able to stay at your home. I'd like to introduce my family and myself. We have four members in our family, and they are my father, my mother, my daughter and me. I love my family very much. I hope I can talk with you in English when I go your home. I want to have a good time with you.

I live in Kumamoto in Japan. Kumamoto is a small city, but the air is so clear, and the water is so delicious. It is not famous for people. Do you know it? There are many beautiful sights in Kumamoto. For example, it is Kumamoto castle. Kumamoto castle is so beautiful. It has passed many times in the area. Kumamoto is so important place for me.

I want to do many things with you when I go your home. What do you like to do? I like shopping, eating, listening to music and reading a novel, and I have other hobbies. I like go outdoors, and I often go outdoors. How about you?

I am nineteen years old. I am studying  English in the “KGU”, because I want to speak English very well, so I decided to go abroad. This is my first visit abroad. I have been excited about staying abroad. Have you been to Japan? I think that I want to advance in knowledge and work hard there. So please follow me.

I have a dream. It is travelling around the world. I think that people can connect with people by word. For example, it is English. So, I studied hard and I want to make this dream come true. I'm a lazy person, but I can do it when I want to do something. Please teach me many things. Please talk to me. Thank you very much for offering your home. I am looking forward to meeting you soon.
